The race for your life

The race for your life

"Run for your lives!" the angels warned. "Do not stop anywhere in the valley. And don't look back! Escape to the mountains, or you will die." (Gen.19.17NLT)

The race for your life is one of the simplest races you will ever run. This is so because you are you not competing against anyone else but yourself. But it is also the hardest you will run because in not completing with others, you compete against your previous best self.

And in the race of your life there is no room for stopping until the job Is done. The angels told Lot to not stop anywhere in the valley - the valley speaks of distractions, down and low times and despite these we cannot quit and Hebrew confirms it. Hebrew tells us that the race is set before us, and that we cannot run with baggage but must strip down, and never quit.

"Do you see what this means--all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we'd better get on with it. Strip down, start running--and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins.(Heb.12.1)

And to win we must keep our eyes on Jesus. Study how he did it and never lose sigh of what is important. Meaning many things will  try to distract us but we must keep our focus on Jesus.

"Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we're in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed--that exhilarating finish in and with God--he could put up with anything along the way: cross, shame, whatever. And now he's there, in the place of honor, right alongside God."(Heb.12.2)

Run for your life....
