Go back to Bethel

Go back to Bethel

"God spoke to Jacob: "Go back to Bethel. Stay there and build an altar to the God who revealed himself to you when you were running for your life from your brother Esau." (Gen.35.1)

This is a clarion call to all who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ - "Go back to Bethel". Bethel when translated means the house of God and God spoke to Jacob asking him to go back to the house of God. There at the house of God, Jacob encountered God personally, God revealed himself to Jacob at Bethel.

Bethel symbolically is that place where you find God for yourself. It is the place where God is real to you. Job, at some point came to this place and he said: "I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee." (Job.42.5 KJV)

Bethel is the place where you experience God firsthand. God told Jacob not only to go back there but "to stay there and build an alter". He that dwells in the secret place of the Most High. If we want to see God manifested in our daily endeavours then we must spend time with and in the word of God and in the place of prayers. That is what guarantees a revelation of God. We must learn to stay in that place. Isaiah the prophet admonishes us, "to stay our minds on him"

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." (Isa.26.3 KJV)

Let us stay our minds on Jesus - that is what meditation is. When you keep churning and churning God's word over and over again in your mind. While at work, walking the street, sitting at home or at a social gathering your mind should be engaging the word of God. God back to Bethel, God is waiting to reveal himself to you there.

Good day,
Have a great day today,
