First amongst equals... 

"As for me, I'm presenting you, as the first among your brothers, the ridge of land I took from Amorites with my sword and bow." [JC](Gen.48.22) 

The bible teaches that the person who has done well is deserving of a double honour. 

"Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine." (1Tim.5.17) 

And without a doubt Joseph was one such person. He truly deserves double honour. 

This teaches us that God recognises and rewards faithfulness. When one is faithful over what one was given, one gets rewarded. I am reminded of the story of the talent. The one who was given five talent, worked hard gained five talents more. He was made ruler over ten cities. Same with the one with two talent, gained two more and was made ruler over four cities. 

""He said, "Good servant! Great work! Because you've been trustworthy in this small job, I'm making you governor of ten towns.' (Luke.19.17) 

What has God put in your hands or entrusted you with? Work it and when you do your part, God will do His part. The one who was give one talent did nothing with it and lost it at the end. What you don't use, you lose. As we prepare to go into 2025, don't wait to make New Year resolutions and wait till the end of the year to evaluate yourself. Each new day is God's give to you to do that. Make New Day Resolutions and work your gifts and talents. And like Joseph, may you become first amongst equal

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem

Jesus is the answer to the sin problem  "When he served as a sacrifice for our sins, he solved the sin problem for good--not only ours, but the whole world's". (1John.1.2 MSB) When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, the sin passed through them to all men. And so the Bible recorded that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.  "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" (Rom.5.12)  But that was just the beginning of the story. Sin entered the world, and death came as a result of sin. It appears that mankind was doomed.  But Jesus came and served the punishment for sin and in so doing, He solved the sin problem for good. Now mankind has access once again to the Father. Now everything the Father has for us is at our disposal. "Law man" or God's man

The law in one sense was a defective reflection of God. It reflected who God is; though not a perfect reflection. The law says don't steal, God does not steal. The law says do not lie, God does not lie, etc. But there was more to God that law could not show or give to us. As a result, God has given us His grace. His grace was not just a reflection of Himself but was God Himself. The law would should you what to do but could not grant you the ability to do it but grace did not just show you, He did it for us. The essence of the law was to satisfy God but grace came and did that on behalf of mankind. The reason why the Apostle says here that he quiets being a 'law man' but instead became God's man "What actually took place is this: I tried keeping rules and working my head off to please God, and it didn't work.
