"But the children of Israel were fruitful and increased abundantly, multiplied and grew exceedingly mighty; and the land was filled with them" (Exod.1.7)
We saw how a conducive environment made the children of Israel grow exceedingly mighty. Today, we want to look at another salient quality that accounted for that exceeding growth.
In Genesis 47, we see Joseph introducing his family to Pharaoh and he tells Pharaoh that his brothers are livestock farmers - Shepherd.
"Pharaoh asked them, "What kind of work do you do? Your servants are shepherds, the same as our fathers were." (Gen.47.3)
So Pharaoh says to him, "if you know any among them that are especially good at their work, put them in charge of my own livestock." (Gen.47.6 MSB)
To grow exceedingly you must be especially good at your work. Do not do a shabby job and expect to get referral. This guys grew not only because of a conducive environment but also because they were especially good at their job.
Proverbs tells that a person who is especially good at his job do not serve mere men but kings.
"Observe people who are good at their work--skilled workers are always in demand and admired; they don't take a back seat to anyone." (Prov.22.29)
Little wonder, Pharaoh, King of Egypt is asking for Joseph's brothers, those that are especially good at their jobs to service his own livestock.
Other translations say: "special skills" (NLT) "men of ability" (AMP) "special ability" (NIV), "competent men" (NKJC) etc. You have a special skill, or ability or competent at something. Put that skill, gift, ability in a conducive environment and you will grow exceedingly mighty too.
Good day,
Have a great day today,
