When the money fails

When the money fails

"And when money failed in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came unto Joseph, and said, Give us bread: for why should we die in thy presence? for the money faileth." (Gen.47.15 KJV)

Growing up I remember seeing this framed photograph of two men, one had beside him so much food and a very happy expression on his face; while the other one had money spilling out of safe all around him but he had this dejected and sad expression on his face. That is the story of our text, only this time, money has failed. The people didn't have any more money to buy food.

Money makes men happy, one may think, until money fails. When with so much money one still is not able to accomplish what one sets out to accomplish, you know has failed, one has so much money, yet one's money is not able to secure health, then you know money has failed. The Bible tells us that money answers all things. As far as things are concerned, money answers to it. But there are certain things that do not answer to money. Money failed in Egypt as well as in Canna

This puts money in perspective for us. The way we go about money, one who think that money was a god. I wish we pursue God the way some of us pursue money. Money, also referred to as mammon is the only thing that Jesus compared to God. Jesus said you can't serve God and money.

"No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money." (Luke.16.13 NLT)

Here, we see one reason why, money fails but God never fails. Pursue money and you may lose God, pursue God and you may gain money. Jesus said when we seek God first, all other things will be added to us (see Matt:6:33)

Money will fail but God never fails. Pursue God.

Good day,
Have a great day today,
