All the willing spirits

"So everyone in the community of Israel left the presence of Moses. Then they came back, every one whose heart was roused, whose spirit was freely responsive, bringing offerings to GOD for building the Tent of Meeting, furnishing it for worship and making the holy vestments. They came, both men and women, all the willing spirits among them, offering brooches, earrings, rings, necklaces--anything made of gold--offering up their gold jewelry to GOD." (Exod.35.20 - 22)

Moses had come back from the presence of God with instructions on how to build the Tent of Meeting. He spoke to the people about the plan and the Bible says that 'everyone in the community of Israel left the presence of Moses'. 

You would think that the plan was dead on arrival. That there was no future nor was there any possibility for the building. But the next verse records that the people came back, 'every one whose heart was roused, whose spirit was freely responsive, bringing offerings to GOD for building the Tent of Meeting, furnishing it for worship and making the holy vestments.". They brought everything that would be needed to start and finish the building. 

Both men and women came back, all whose spirit was freely responsive, bringing offerings of gold jewellery to God. They gave of their best. When we put together the fact that they were of willing spirits offering their best to God, I am reminded of Romans 12.1-2 where it talks about presenting our bodies as a living sacrifice unto God. A sacrifice ought to be be dead presented to God but as living sacrifice, it ought to be a willing sacrifice. That means knowingly and freely giving of yourself to God. Are you presenting yourself a living sacrifice, are you a willing sacrifice, are you giving of your best, are you a willing spirit?

Birth rights for sale  "One day Jacob was cooking a stew. Esau came in from the field, starved. Esau said to Jacob, "Give me some of that red stew--I'm starved!" That's how he came to be called Edom (Red). Jacob said, "Make me a trade: my stew for your rights as the firstborn." Esau said, "I'm starving! What good is a birthright if I'm dead?" Jacob said, "First, swear to me." And he did it. On oath Esau traded away his rights as the firstborn." (Gen.25.29-33).  Life has taught us to trade what we have for what we want or need.
