Let God Complete What He Has Begun Hook One of the greatest mistakes we can make is to assume that because God has started something in our lives, He no longer needs to be involved in finishing it. We may plan wisely, think carefully, and act responsibly, but the safest place is still to let God complete what He has begun. Scripture "Elkanah said to his wife, 'Do what you think is best. Stay home until you have weaned him. Yes! Let GOD complete what he has begun!' So she did. She stayed home and nursed her son until she had weaned him." ( 1 Samuel 1:23 MSB) Explanation After years of barrenness, Hannah finally held the miracle she had prayed for. When it was time to travel to worship, she chose to remain at home until Samuel was weaned. Elkanah respected her decision and added these profound words: "Let God complete what He has begun." Before the Year Was Out Hook How long does it take God to change a life? Sometimes what seems impossible for years can be turned around in a single season. One encounter with God can rewrite a lifetime of disappointment. Scripture  "Before the year was out, Hannah had conceived and given birth to a son. She named him Samuel, explaining, 'I asked GOD for him.'" ( 1 Samuel 1:20 MSB) Explanation For years, Hannah carried the pain of barrenness. Her situation had become so prolonged that it defined her identity in the eyes of others. Yet God was never limited by the length of her waiting. The Necessary Arrangements Hook Have you ever wondered why nothing seems to change, even after you've prayed? Sometimes, God doesn't answer immediately because He is quietly arranging everything behind the scenes. What looks like silence may actually be divine activity. Strength of Your Prayers Hook What gives prayer its strength? Is it the volume of your voice, the passion of your emotions, or the length of time you spend praying? Scripture shows us that the power of prayer is measured by something far deeper. Scripture "Hannah was praying in her heart, silently. Her lips moved, but no sound was heard. Eli jumped to the conclusion that she was drunk."( 1 Samuel 1:13)  "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you."  ( John 15:7 KJV) Explanation Hannah's prayer was almost inaudible. Only her lips moved, yet heaven heard every word. In contrast, the early church often lifted their voices together in passionate prayer (Acts 4:24-31), and God answered them too. This teaches us an important truth: God is not moved by the volume of our voices but by the condition of our hearts and the foundation of our prayers. Nurse the Future Hook The future rarely announces itself. It often arrives quietly—small, ordinary, and easy to overlook. Those who shape tomorrow are usually the ones who recognize it while everyone else sees only today. Scripture "Naomi took the baby and held him in her arms, cuddling him, cooing over him, waiting on him hand and foot... They named him Obed. He became the father of Jesse, the father of David." ( Ruth 4:16–17 MSG) Explanation To the people around Naomi, Obed was simply a newborn child. But heaven saw something much greater. Hidden in that baby's future was Jesse, King David, and ultimately Jesus Christ, the Redeemer of the world. By caring for Obed, Naomi was unknowingly nurturing generations yet unborn. She embraced the future before it became obvious. She didn't wait until Obed was a kingmaker or a man of influence. She invested in him while he was still helpless and dependent. More Than Seven Sons Hook The greatest blessing in your life may not come in the package you expected. Sometimes God places extraordinary value in the very person others overlook. Scripture  "He'll make you young again! He'll take care of you in old age. And this daughter-in-law who has brought him into the world and loves you so much, why, she's worth more to you than seven sons!" ( Ruth 4:15 MSG) Explanation In many cultures, having a male child is considered the highest family blessing because he is expected to carry on the family name and legacy. Against that backdrop, this statement about Ruth is remarkable. The Bible says Ruth was worth more to Naomi than seven sons . That is not because daughters are more valuable than sons. Rather, it highlights the immeasurable worth of a person who faithfully fulfills God's purpose in another person's life. Ruth did what Naomi's sons no longer could. She remained loyal, cared for her mothe...

Kinsman Redeemer Hook Every one of us needs a rescuer. But not just anyone can redeem us. The Redeemer must be qualified, willing, and able. Scripture "And now it is true that I am thy near kinsman: howbeit there is a kinsman nearer than I."   ( Ruth 3:12 KJV) Explanation The story of Boaz and Ruth points to God's greater plan of redemption. In Israel, a kinsman-redeemer had to be a close relative with both the right and the ability to redeem a family member. After humanity's fall, mankind needed such a Redeemer—One who was truly related to us. This is why the Son of God became the Son of Man. Jesus took on human flesh so He could become our Kinsman and redeem us, making it possible for the sons of men to become the sons of God. Boaz told Ruth there was a nearer kinsman. Follow, But Are You Available? Hook Many people follow Jesus, but not everyone is truly available for Him. Following is the invitation; availability is the commitment. Scripture "Boaz had a good time, eating and drinking his fill—he felt great. Then he went off to get some sleep, lying down at the end of a stack of barley. Ruth quietly followed; she lay down to signal her availability for marriage." ( Ruth 3:7 MSG) Explanation Naomi had given Ruth a clear plan. Ruth's responsibility was simply to follow it. She obeyed every instruction and, at the right moment, signaled her availability for marriage. Naomi knew that once Ruth made herself available, Boaz would take the necessary steps. This reveals an important spiritual truth: following and being available are not the same thing. Ruth didn't just follow—she made herself available. Application The same challenge confronts us today. Work the Plan Hook A plan on paper changes nothing. A plan put into action can change everything. Scripture "She went down to the threshing floor and put her mother-in-law's plan into action." — 3:6 Explanation Many people remain where they are, not because they lack dreams, ambition, or good ideas, but because they never take the first step. No plan is perfect. Every successful plan has weaknesses, but progress comes from working the plan, learning along the way, and making adjustments as you go. We often admire diligent people, but what makes them diligent? They work their plans. They don't merely talk about what they intend to do—they are always moving, taking the next step, making progress, and refining their approach. Diligence is not about having a flawless strategy; it is about faithfully acting on the strategy you have. Ruth understood this principle. She did not spend her time questioning every detail of Naomi's instructions. She trus...

If You Say So  Hook Faith is not proven by what we understand but by what we obey. God's instructions may not always make sense, but they always lead to His purpose. Scripture "Ruth said, 'If you say so, I'll do it, just as you've told me.'" — Ruth 3:5 Explanation A believer's first response should always be, "What does God's Word say?" —and then obey it. Ruth trusted Naomi's counsel and acted on it. In the same way, Simon Peter obeyed Jesus' instruction after a night of catching nothing: "But if you say so, I'll let down the nets" (Luke 5:5). His obedience produced a miraculous catch. God's instructions may seem unreasonable to our minds, but His Word never fails. When God says it, our responsibility is to obey. Do Whatever It Takes Hook Dreams don't become reality by desire alone. God may give the promise, but it is our responsibility to take the steps of obedience that bring it to life. Scripture "I will do everything you say," Ruth replied. " ( Ruth 3:5 NLT) Explanation Ruth's response to Naomi was immediate and wholehearted. She didn't argue, delay, or negotiate. She simply said, "I will do everything you say." Throughout Ruth's story, we see a beautiful partnership between God's providence and human obedience. God arranged the opportunities, but Ruth took the necessary steps. Divine favor never cancels human responsibility. Application What is God asking you to do today? Pray—but also prepare. Believe—but also act. God may open the door, but you must walk through it. As Philippians 2:13 reminds us, God works in us both to will and to do His good pleasure. If He has given you the desire, trust Him for the strength to act. ...

Understand the Culture Hook God often works through people who understand the culture, but He is never limited by it. Wisdom is knowing the difference. Scripture "When you see him slipping off to sleep, watch where he lies down and then go there. Lie at his feet to let him know that you are available to him for marriage. Then wait and see what he says. He'll tell you what to do." ( Ruth 3:4 MSG) Explanation Culture is a people's way of life. It shapes how they think, what they value, and what they consider acceptable. If you don't understand the "how," you'll often struggle to understand the "why."
