Just as God Said

Just as God Said

“So give me this hill country that the LORD promised me. You yourself heard then that the Anakim were there with their great fortified cities. If the LORD is with me, I will drive them out, just as the LORD said.”
(Joshua 14:12)

One of the greatest joys of the Christian faith is the assurance that we can take God at His word. Not the word of a pastor, a leader, or even a revered “saint,” but God’s own word. When God speaks, His word stands sure, reliable, and unchanging.

The Apostle Paul highlights the power of this truth when he commends the Thessalonian believers. He explains that the Word of God worked effectively in them because they received it for what it truly is—not the word of men, but the very Word of God:

“For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.” (1 Thessalonians 2:13, KJV)

This effectual working of God’s Word is clearly demonstrated in the life of Caleb. God had promised him a mountain, and Caleb believed Him. That belief pleased God. Forty-five years later, the promise was still alive, potent, and unbroken. Standing before fortified cities and fierce enemies, Caleb boldly declared, “I will drive them out, just as the LORD said.”

God said it—and because God said it, it was as good as done. When we take God at His word, His word goes to work in our lives, producing results beyond human reasoning. Trust Him. Believe Him. And watch His word work wonders for you.

Reflection
What promise of God are you holding onto today? Time, opposition, and circumstances may challenge your faith, but God’s word does not expire. Like Caleb, faith is choosing to believe God despite what you see. When you receive God’s word as truth, it activates His power in your life. God delights in those who trust Him fully, and He remains faithful to every promise He has spoken.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You because Your word is true and unchanging. I choose today to believe You, not based on what I see or feel, but because You have spoken. Help me to hold fast to Your promises, even when the wait is long and the challenges are great. Let Your word work effectually in me, strengthening my faith and producing results that glorify You. Just as You were with Caleb, be with me, and bring every promise to fulfillment in my life.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Have a fruitful day
