If You Have Doubts, Go Anyway

If You Have Doubts, Go Anyway

“If you have any doubts about going down, go down with Purah your armor bearer.” (Judg. 7:10)

God’s instruction to Gideon is both simple and profound: go anyway. Even with uncertainty, even with fear, even with unanswered questions—go. He didn’t rebuke Gideon for his doubts; instead, He made provision for them. “Take Purah with you,” He said. In other words, you don’t have to go alone.

Sometimes we imagine that faith means the absence of doubt. But here, God shows us something deeper—faith is obedience in the presence of doubt. Gideon was not disqualified because he hesitated; he was guided because he was willing.

The question then becomes: what—or who—is your “Purah”? For Gideon, it was a companion. For us, it can be our faith in God’s Word, a reminder of His promises, or even the quiet assurance that He is with us. God wasn’t suggesting an idea; He was giving a command backed by divine provision.

As Smith Wigglesworth once implied, sometimes you move first in faith, and then the Spirit meets you in motion. You may not feel ready. You may not feel equipped. But obedience activates what God has already placed within you.

God’s instructions are never empty. If He says “go,” it means He has already prepared the way—even if you can’t see it yet. The manifestation often follows the movement.

So go—even if your voice shakes. Go—even if your heart is unsure. Go—with your “Purah,” your faith anchored in His Word. Doubts may come, but they must not keep you still.

Reflection
Doubt is not your enemy—disobedience is. God understands your humanity, your fears, and your limitations. Yet, He still calls you forward. What step has God been nudging you to take that you’ve been postponing because you’re waiting to feel “ready”? Perhaps readiness is found in the going, not before it.

Prayer
Lord, thank You for Your patience with me even when I doubt. Help me to trust Your Word above my feelings and fears. Give me the courage to move when You say “go,” even when I do not fully understand. Let my faith rise above my uncertainty, and let Your presence meet me in my obedience. Be my strength, my assurance, and my guide. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Have a fruitful day,
