Confirmation
Confirmation
"Manoah prayed to GOD: “Master, let the man of God you sent come to us again and teach us how to raise this boy who is to be born.”” (Judg. 13:8)
The man of God had appeared to Manoah’s wife and told her that she would bear a son. When she reported it to her husband, Manoah did something very wise—he went back to God for confirmation. It was as though he said, “Lord, if this message truly came from You, then speak to me also.” And the Bible says that the angel of God appeared again.
There is an important lesson here concerning the prophetic ministry. Many people have rushed ahead simply because a man of God spoke over them, without seeking confirmation in their own spirit. One major assignment of the New Testament prophet is not to replace God’s voice in your life, but to confirm what God is already revealing to you. There should be an inner witness that agrees with what is being spoken.
And if you do not yet have that witness, do what Manoah did—go back to God for confirmation.
The Bible says, “As many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God” (Rom. 8:14). It does not say, “As many as are led by the prophet of God.” Every believer has access to the Holy Spirit for leadership, guidance, and confirmation. Jesus said the Spirit would guide us into all truth (John 16:13), and Scripture also instructs us to test every spirit to see whether it is from God (1 John 4:1).
God can speak through His servants, but He also desires to speak to your heart personally. Do not abandon discernment. Seek confirmation.
Reflection
God never intended for believers to live entirely dependent on human voices. Spiritual counsel is valuable, prophetic words are important, but the Holy Spirit remains the ultimate guide of the believer. A mature Christian learns to listen, discern, pray, and seek confirmation before acting. What God says through others should resonate with what He is saying within you.
Prayer
Father, thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit who leads and guides Your children. Help me to discern Your voice clearly and not be carried away by every word spoken around me. Give me wisdom to seek confirmation, patience to wait on You, and sensitivity to recognize Your leading. Let my heart remain aligned with Your truth always, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Have a fruitful day,
