GOD CONFIDED IN SAMUEL

There is a difference between knowing about God and being close enough for God to share His heart with you.

One of the greatest privileges of our walk with God is that divinity chooses to fellowship with humanity. God does not merely want servants who obey Him; He desires people who know Him intimately.

Scripture

“The very day before, GOD had confided in Samuel.” (1 Samuel 9:15)

Explanation
Samuel had developed such a close relationship with God that God could entrust him with information concerning what He was about to do.

God was preparing to give Israel a king, and before Saul arrived, God had already told Samuel what was about to happen.

This is the privilege of intimacy: God shares His heart with those who walk closely with Him.

The Bible says, “The friendship of the LORD is for those who fear him” (Psalm 25:14). The secret things of God are not revealed merely through intellectual ability but through fellowship with Him.

Samuel had known God from a tender age. His relationship with God had grown to the point where divine instructions and divine secrets were no longer strange to him.

Application
God still desires fellowship with His people. He wants us to know His heart, understand His purposes and be sensitive to the leading of His Spirit.

Amos 3:7 says that the Lord does nothing without revealing His plan to His servants, the prophets.

But intimacy requires intentionality. We cannot live carelessly and expect to discern deeply. We must learn to dwell in the secret place, spend time in God's Word, pray, worship and cultivate sensitivity to the Holy Spirit.

God may not reveal everything He is doing, but He can entrust us with what we need to know for the assignment He has given us.

Can God trust you with His plans? Can He confide in you?

Reflection
The secret place is where intimacy is developed and spiritual sensitivity is cultivated.

If God wants to speak, am I close enough to hear?

Prayer
Lord, draw me closer to You. Help me to cultivate genuine fellowship with You and become trustworthy with the things You reveal to me. Make me sensitive to Your Spirit and obedient to Your instructions. Amen.
