The old is gone, the new is here

"In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away." (Heb.8.13)

It was Jeremiah the prophet that spoke of the New Covenant that was to come. (see Jer:31) Everyone looked forward to it and almost missed it when it finally came. And what must be said is that most of us still live our lives as though it is based on the Old Covenant. No, it is not. The old is gone and the new is here.

In the old, the blood of goats and bulls was required to atone for sins but in the new, Jesus offered Himself once and for all. And in so doing, secured our eternal salvation once and for all.

"Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?" (Heb.9.12.14)

Now we must live in the realities of the New Covenant. No man could have done away with the old, God himself did. So don't fight it, enjoy it. The sacrifice of Christ purged our conscience from dead works. Dead works speak to self-efforts, in an attempt to secure salvation. Now live in the redemption that has been provided for us. The old is gone, and the new is here.

Happy New Month...
