Rules and precedures

"That's the place where GOD set up rules and procedures; that's where he started testing them. GOD said, "If you listen, listen obediently to how GOD tells you to live in his presence, obeying his commandments and keeping all his laws, then I won't strike you with all the diseases that I inflicted on the Egyptians; I am GOD your healer." (Exod.15.26 MSG) 

God is a God of purpose and design. He is a God of process and procedures. Little wonder, the planetary bodies are aligned the way they do. God is never unaware, unprepared and taken by surprise. 

God told Israel in our text that He is going set rules and procedure. On the grounds of these rules and procedure comes testing that will result in promotion or otherwise. Rules and procedures help regulate us. Furthermore, our text says if we live within these rules and procedures that God sets for us we will live in health. "GOD said, "If you listen, listen obediently to how GOD tells you to live in his presence, obeying his commandments and keeping all his laws" then you will live healthy lives. 

And then in Exod.16.4 we see God carry out what He told Moses that he was going to do. He provided bread for them but gave an instruction on how to go about collecting that bread. 

"GOD said to Moses, "I'm going to rain bread down from the skies for you. The people will go out and gather each day's ration. I'm going to test them to see if they'll live according to my Teaching or not." (Exod.16.4) 

The word of God is our rule and procedure book. Heeding the instructions in the word of God will bring about promotions in every area of our lives.

Birthright for sale

Birth rights for sale  "One day Jacob was cooking a stew. Esau came in from the field, starved. Esau said to Jacob, "Give me some of that red stew--I'm starved!" That's how he came to be called Edom (Red). Jacob said, "Make me a trade: my stew for your rights as the firstborn." Esau said, "I'm starving! What good is a birthright if I'm dead?" Jacob said, "First, swear to me." And he did it. On oath Esau traded away his rights as the firstborn." (Gen.25.29-33).  Life has taught us to trade what we have for what we want or need. And this is basic economics but the story of how Esau lost his birthright is a lesson we should not forget in a hurry.
