Leaders go ahead

"GOD said to Moses, "Go on out ahead of the people, taking with you some of the elders of Israel. Take the staff you used to strike the Nile. And go." (Exod.17.5) 

That leaders lead from the front is no longer news. Gone are the days of 'do as I say and not as I do'. Leaders are examples, leaving a trail for others to follow. 

Our text shows how God told Moses to go out ahead of the people he was leading. They had come to this place where we were told that they were directed by God and when the got there, the Bible says there wasn't a drop of water for the people to drink. (see Exo. 17.1)

This means Moses at the leader cannot complain along side the people. Don't forget he also does not have water to drink. As a leader he must find solution to the no-water problem and to be able to do that, he must go out ahead. 

Problems are not solved at the level they were created. That's why you need to go out ahead. In your personal or corporate life, you must begin to think like a leader and begin to create solutions instead of joining the bandwagon to complain and murmur. What else can we do? How can we resolve this issue? What is the way forward? These are the kind of questions that will put you ahead of the pack. 

Moses took some of the elders with him. Take like minded people with you. He that walks with the wise shall be wise. Collaboration is a form of innovation. Don't walk alone. Leaders collaborate, leaders go out ahead.

Birth rights for sale  "One day Jacob was cooking a stew. Esau came in from the field, starved. Esau said to Jacob, "Give me some of that red stew--I'm starved!"
