Observe the sabbath

Observe the sabbath

"Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy." (Exod.20.8)

It is important to observe a sabbath. The sabbath means rest. It points back to the creation story of how on the seventh day God rested from all His works and instituted a rest for everyone of us to follow.

This is not necessarily about a day but that you must find the rest that your body needs to recuperate and refresh and find the strength you need to keep you going stronger in God. It is not about a day because the Apostle Paul tells us that each person values a day as each person's conscience convinces them.

"Or, say, one person thinks that some days should be set aside as holy and another thinks that each day is pretty much like any other. There are good reasons either way. So, each person is free to follow the convictions of conscience." (Rom.14.5)

But it is about resting. For in rest and quietness you will find your strength. And to you who are trouble, rest with us.

"For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not." (Isa.30.15 )

"And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels," (2Thess.1.7 KJV)

Just as physical rest is to your body, so is spirityat rest good for your spirit. For this is the rest that God has ordained

"For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear." jm((Isa.28.11-12))

Find the time, the place and resolve to rest.

Good day,
Have a great day today,
