Finish Strong

Finish Strong

“Moses was one hundred and twenty years old when he died, yet his eyes were not dim and his strength had not failed.” (Deuteronomy 34:7)

Moses lived for 120 years, and his life can be clearly seen in three equal seasons of forty years each: the morning, the noon, and the evening of his life.

The first forty years were the morning of his life. Moses lived in the palace, enjoying the comfort and privileges of Egypt. Yet, deep within him was a stirring called destiny. That inner hunger pushed him to act, and in trying to fulfil God’s purpose in his own strength, he killed an Egyptian. Though the desire was right, the timing and method were wrong. Destiny cannot be fulfilled without God’s presence and direction.

The next forty years marked the noon of his life. Moses wandered in the wilderness, tending the sheep of his father-in-law. It was there, in obscurity and humility, that he encountered God in the fire of the burning bush. God properly commissioned him for the assignment he had once tried to carry out on his own. This teaches us that knowing what to do is not enough; we need God’s endorsement and His timing.

The final forty years were the evening of Moses’ life, and they were his most glorious. This time, he was not pursuing his own agenda but God’s. He performed signs, wonders, and miracles. He led Israel out of slavery, parted the Red Sea, journeyed with them through the wilderness, and brought them to the edge of their promised destiny. Remarkably, at the end of it all, the Bible records that his eyesight was still sharp and he walked with strength and vigor.

As we begin a new year, make it your resolve to finish strong. Like Moses, as you walk in God’s will and timing, He will sustain your strength, sharpen your vision, and help you complete your assignment well.

Brief Reflection

A strong finish is not a matter of age or years, but of alignment with God. When we surrender our plans to Him and follow His timing, He gives us the grace to remain effective and fruitful until the end.

Prayer

Father, thank You for the example of Moses. As I step into this new year, help me to walk in Your will and timing. Renew my strength, sharpen my vision, and grant me grace to finish strong in everything You have called me to do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Have a fruitful day,
