God's Circle

God's Circle

Hook
Have you ever felt like you didn't belong? Maybe you looked at your background, your mistakes, or your circumstances and concluded that you could never fit into God's plan. The book of Ruth reminds us that God has a different way of choosing His people.

Scripture
"This is the family tree of Perez: Perez had Hezron, Hezron had Ram, Ram had Amminadab, Amminadab had Nahshon, Nahshon had Salmon, Salmon had Boaz, Boaz had Obed, Obed had Jesse, and Jesse had David." (Ruth 4:18–22)

Explanation
The closing verses of Ruth may seem like a simple genealogy, but they reveal God's amazing grace. Perez was born from the scandalous union between Judah and Tamar, yet God chose that lineage to bring forth King David—and ultimately Jesus Christ. Ruth was a Moabite, a foreigner from a nation often despised by Israel, yet she too became part of the Messiah's family line.

Human beings often create exclusive circles based on status, race, wealth, education, or pedigree. God doesn't. He writes a different story. His choices are not determined by human merit but by His sovereign purpose and abundant grace.

Application
If you feel like an outsider, don't count yourself out. You may not fit into society's circles, but you can belong in God's circle. Your past does not disqualify you, your background does not limit you, and your failures do not cancel God's purpose for your life.

Your responsibility is not to force your way into people's acceptance but to remain available and obedient to God. Remember Jabez. Though his beginning was marked by pain, he cried to God, and the Lord enlarged his territory (1 Chronicles 4:9–10).

Don't write yourself off if God hasn't written you off—and the good news is, God delights in redeeming lives and rewriting stories.

Reflection
Stop measuring your worth by who accepts or rejects you. The One who matters most has already made room for you. When God includes you in His plan, no one can exclude you from your destiny.

Prayer
Father, thank You that You look beyond my past, my limitations, and my background. Help me to trust Your purpose for my life and to remain available for Your use. Thank You for making me a part of Your family through Christ. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Discussion Question
Have you ever felt like an outsider? How does Ruth's story encourage you to believe that God can use anyone who is willing to follow Him?

Have a fruitful day.
