Let God Complete What He Has Begun

Hook
One of the greatest mistakes we can make is to assume that because God has started something in our lives, He no longer needs to be involved in finishing it. We may plan wisely, think carefully, and act responsibly, but the safest place is still to let God complete what He has begun.

Scripture
"Elkanah said to his wife, 'Do what you think is best. Stay home until you have weaned him. Yes! Let GOD complete what he has begun!' So she did. She stayed home and nursed her son until she had weaned him." (1 Samuel 1:23 MSB)

Explanation
After years of barrenness, Hannah finally held the miracle she had prayed for. When it was time to travel to worship, she chose to remain at home until Samuel was weaned. Elkanah respected her decision and added these profound words: "Let God complete what He has begun."

There is wisdom in thinking things through. God has given us minds to reason and make sound decisions. Yet, our thinking must never replace our dependence on God. As Philippians reminds us, it is God who works in us both to will and to act according to His good pleasure. We may make plans, but only God can bring His purposes to completion.

Every blessing God gives is part of a bigger story. Hannah's responsibility was to nurture Samuel, but God's purpose was to raise a prophet who would shape the destiny of Israel. She had to cooperate with God until His plan unfolded.

Application
Have you allowed God to finish what He started in your life, or have you taken over the project? Don't abandon the process because you've received the promise. Continue to trust Him, obey His leading, and remain faithful. The God who begins a good work is also faithful to complete it.

Your role is to cooperate with Him. His role is to perfect His purpose through you.

Reflection
God's plans are always bigger than our perspective. Think wisely, plan diligently, but never substitute your wisdom for God's guidance. The Author of your story knows how it should end. Let Him complete what He has begun.

Prayer
Father, thank You for every good work You have started in my life. Give me the humility to trust Your process, the patience to wait on Your timing, and the obedience to follow Your leading. Complete Your purpose in me, and let my life bring glory to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Is there an area of your life where you've been trying to finish God's work in your own strength? What practical step can you take today to surrender that area back to Him?
