Come Out of Hiding, Step Into the Open

You cannot conquer what you are afraid to confront. Sometimes, the first step toward your victory is simply coming out of hiding.

Scripture

“So they did it, the two of them. They stepped into the open where they could be seen by the Philistine garrison. The Philistines shouted out, ‘Look at that! The Hebrews are crawling out of their holes!’” (1 Samuel 14:11 MSG)

Explanation
Israel had been hiding from the Philistines because of fear. But Jonathan and his armour-bearer decided it was time to step into the open.

Notice what happened: the moment they came out, the enemy saw them. They became exposed to the very people they had been hiding from.

But their exposure was not the end of the story—it was the beginning of a victory God would bring through them.

Sometimes, we hide because we fear criticism, failure, rejection, or what people will say. Yet what we call hiding for safety can become a prison that keeps us from fulfilling our God-given assignment.

Application
It is time to come out of hiding.

What God is doing in you may no longer be meant to remain hidden in the comfort of your private world. Your gifts, calling, ideas, testimony, leadership, and influence may need to step into the open.

Yes, coming out exposes you. People may see you. People may talk about you. But the open is also where God can demonstrate what He has placed inside you.

The Philistines said, “Look at that! The Hebrews are crawling out of their holes!”

They thought Israel was merely coming out of hiding. They did not know that God was bringing them out for victory.

Your next step may simply be this: come out, step forward, and trust God with the exposure.

What have you been hiding from because of fear that God may be calling you to bring into the open?

Prayer
Lord, give me the courage to come out of hiding and step into the open. Help me overcome the fear of being seen, judged, or rejected. Let my gifts, calling, and purpose become instruments through which You demonstrate Your power. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
