What the Enemy Meant for Evil
Sometimes, what looks like an attack on your life is actually preparation for your future.
The enemy may intend to destroy you, but God can use the very thing meant to hurt you to prepare you for what lies ahead. Never judge God's plan by what you are going through today.
Scripture
“So, Saul got David out of his sight by making him an officer in the army. David was in combat frequently.” — 1 Samuel 18:13 (MSB)
“Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.” — 1 Corinthians 2:8 (KJV)
Explanation
Saul promoted David to a position that kept him constantly on the battlefield. His intention was to expose David to danger, hoping that one day he would be killed. But what Saul intended for evil, God used for David's preparation.
Every battle David fought became an opportunity to develop his courage, skill, and experience. What was meant to destroy him was preparing him for the throne!
Something similar happened at the cross. When Jesus was crucified, it appeared that the enemy had won. But what looked like defeat became the means through which God accomplished His plan of salvation. The enemy did not understand what God was doing.
Never assume that because something is painful, it cannot be part of God's preparation for your future. You may not understand the process today, but God sees the bigger picture.
Later, David testified:
“He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze.” — 2 Samuel 22:35 (NIV)
The battles that could have destroyed David had helped prepare him for his destiny.
Application
Are you facing opposition, rejection, difficult responsibilities, or unexpected challenges? Do not be quick to conclude that God has abandoned you.
* Trust God's love: Even when you cannot understand His ways, remember that His love for you has not changed.
* Learn from your battles: Ask yourself what each challenge is teaching you about faith, patience, courage, wisdom, and leadership.
* Stay faithful in the process: Do not abandon your assignment simply because it has become difficult.
* Keep the bigger picture in view: What you are learning today may become useful in fulfilling tomorrow's assignment.
Remember, God does not promise that every painful experience will immediately turn around. But He can work through even the most difficult circumstances to accomplish His purposes in your life.
Reflection
What if the battle you are praying to escape is teaching you something you will need for your next level?
Do not waste your battles. Trust God, learn the lessons, and remain faithful.
Prayer
Father, help me to trust Your love and wisdom even when I do not understand what I am going through. Give me the grace to learn from my battles and the courage to remain faithful in difficult seasons. Turn every situation that the enemy intends for evil into an opportunity for Your purpose to prevail in my life. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Discussion Question
Have you ever experienced a situation that initially looked like a setback but later became a stepping stone to something better? What did you learn from that experience?
Have a fruitful day.
